My 2006 Birthday Gifts…
Today, I add another year to my days on this planet Its been almost three decades around here, and today offers a unique opportunity to count the blessings, consider the journey ahead and more. I have decided to do two things in honour of this new year, which will be a very fast one for me because of many additions that will come into my life in the next few months. You can ask me for more details later
One: At 5pm, in a city outside where I live, I will be hosting a few friends and some very senior colleagues. Two: My request to them will be the same to everyone who’s possibly outside this city, at least today: please don’t buy me a personal gift. Instead of buying me a personal gift (and I do appreciate the thought), please contribute to the vision of a few young men and women that I had the rare privilege of mentoring over the last year.
The Peer eNeRGy Class of 2005 has put together the 2006 edition of Peer eNeRGy, and they expect between 50 participants at the event. Each participant is expected to pay a participation fee of 6,000 but my request is that you (yes, you) sponsor one or two people to attend the event. A few people (most of who saw the New Dawn with Funmi Iyanda show of July 26 where I spoke about future worth) have called or sent messages to ask about how they could be sponsored to benefit from the seminar where ‘Gbenga Sesan (sounds good to call or write my own name , Deolu Akinyemi and Niyi Adesanya will be joining hands to mentor, empower and guide these 50 young people on the 4th and 5th of August.
Please feel free to discuss with ‘Gbenga Adeyemo (firstname.lastname@example.org, 0805 747 05 62) about how you can sponsor young people to enable them attend this packed seminar. I am sure he will be glad to discuss details with you, and may I thank you in advance for your kindness. I will request that a final report be produced for the event, and will post the same on this blog so you can see how your investment helped change the future worth of 50 young people. It’s my birthday today, and I ask that intended gifts (and eCards) be converted into mentorship opportunities for 50 young Nigerians who will go ahead to produce an amazing ripple effect across Nigeria… I see a New Nigeria!
